Every December, Our Friends Closet hosts our Annual Adopt-a-Student Christmas Program, a heartfelt initiative focused on supporting high school students who are experiencing homelessness, poverty, or family instability during the holiday season.
Through this program, generous community members “adopt” a student by providing personalized gifts, clothing, hygiene items, and comfort essentials. Each student receives a thoughtfully curated care package that reminds them they are seen, valued, and not alone.
How It Works:
- School social workers identify students in need and share anonymous wish lists
- Donors and volunteers shop for items or contribute funds for gift bundles
- Our Friends Closet coordinates delivery to ensure every student receives their gifts before the holiday break
This program is especially meaningful for older students who are often overlooked in traditional toy drives. Many are navigating school, work, and personal challenges without stable housing or family support. Your participation helps restore dignity and joy during a time that can feel isolating.
